What we offer

Whether your objective is to win a Monument, a National B, a local 10, or simply to better your Personal Bests; Champion Cycling Services can help you achieve your goals.

At Champion we offer more than just a coaching program; we view things holistically, taking into account both racing & training, lifestyle, and a multitude of personal factors that are specific to you. We embrace both modern techniques and traditional methods and are able to articulate this in a down-to-earth and personable manner.

Outside of coaching we also offer teams and individuals advice and contacts in team management, with our services also including sports director duties, convoy driving, corporate speaking and rides, training camps and more.

We pride ourselves on being honest enough to admit we do not know everything, but with many decades of experience at all levels of cycling, training and general riding we are sure we do have the contacts and network to find the answer you seek.

Who are we?

Friends from Leicester in the UK that love riding bikes, love the sport, and enjoy helping others along the way. We wouldn’t be doing this unless we thought we could make a difference!

Rob Orr

A late comer to the sport; Rob only only starting racing aged 24 having been an international standard distance runner in this teens whilst also playing football nationally. A strong rouleur, Rob progressed to racing multiple years at UCI level whilst competing around the world.

Rob has a lot of passion for the sport, is a lover of a long ride on winding lanes and a good coffee. His favourite place to ride is the roads around Calpe, with his favourite race that he has competed in being the UCI Pro stage race Tour of Qinghai Lake, a two week race held at altitude in China.

Alongside his racing career Rob also has extensive experience as a soigneur and mechanic, and previously managed a UCI Continental team with great success.

Colin Sturgess

World Champion, National Champion, European Champion, Commonwealth Games medallist, Olympic finalist, ex professional, former World Record holder, British Cycling Hall of Fame inductee, Director Sportif, occasional tv commentator.

Colin turned pro at a very early age and achieved more in a few years that many riders would call a dream career, before retiring and taking time away from the sport to studying journalism. Upon his return to the sport in his late 20’s he again raced professionally competing again for Team GB as part of the famous World Performance Plan.

Another lover of a long ride, Colin more than likes to press on at times when training and is equally at home in the Leicester lanes as he is under the sun riding in the Costa Blanca region of Spain.

Steve Tait

Having competed as a distance runner as a young man prior to focussing on university studies before a career in business, Steve provides a different level and angle of insight to many coaches.

Steve is accomplished in his own right on the bike with numerous course records to his name in hill climbing plus the title of LVRC National Champion in 2019. Steve provides balanced and nuanced direction together with real life knowledge and training application.

A big fan of whenever the road goes up hill, espresso coffees and quality dance music!
